70% of Michigan Voters Oppose Privatizing Public Mental Health Care
New statewide poll reflects growing concern over potential changes.
Survey findings include:
● 69% oppose ending local control and local accountability of Michigan’s public mental health system – compared to just 19% who support the proposal.
● 70% oppose shifting management of Medicaid mental health services to private insurance companies – while only 19% support the change.
● 58% strongly oppose privatization – compared to only 8% who strongly support it. ● 49% would be less likely to support a candidate who favors privatization – while only 11% would be more likely to support such a candidate.

Medicaid advocates are calling on Michiganders to gather at the State Capitol on July 30 for the March For Medicaid – Michigan Families For Fair Care, a rally celebrating the health care program’s 61st anniversary while raising concerns about potential federal changes that could affect coverage for millions of residents.
The March for Medicaid will take place on Thursday, July 30, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Michigan State Capitol in Lansing. Participants will gather to recognize Medicaid’s impact on the lives of recipients and to advocate for protecting access to health care coverage.
