Are you a dog mom or dad looking to spoil your little pup?
Let me tell you about three friends who started a special business for the community’s furry little companions.
Bjorn, Tom, and Dan started North Country Critters, making and selling homemade dog treats. Their journey started when Dan’s mother asked the guys to help her make something for the AC PAW bake sale, a local animal shelter in Traverse City.
They looked up some recipes and got to baking. A few weeks after the bake sale, Dan’s mother was getting requests for more treats. They decided to sign up for a couple of farmers markets and the rest was history! Fifteen years later, and the trio is still hard at work.
It’s important to add that Bjorn, Tom, and Dan are living with developmental disabilities, but they do not let this stop them. Their story sparks inspiration and their hard work has been noticed by many. This year the guys will be participating in the Charlevoix Farmers Market on Bridge Street Thursday mornings and Monday evenings at Ferry Beach. Their treat selection includes Cherry Chews, Beef Barley, Peanut Butter Balls, and Veggie treats.
