Petoskey, MI — North Country Community Mental Health (NCCMH) is excited to announce the launch of its 30 Days of Kindness Community Campaign, running from January 17 through February 17, 2025. The campaign will culminate on National Random Acts of Kindness Day (February 17, 2025), with a variety of community activities aimed at spreading positivity and promoting mental wellness.
A Month of Meaningful Engagement
Throughout the 30 Days of Kindness, participants will have the opportunity to engage in numerous activities, including:
- Kindness Rocks: Paint and distribute uplifting “Kindness Rocks” around the community. Community members who find the rocks are encouraged to take one if they need it, share a photo on social media using the hashtag #KindnessRocksNCCMH, or leave it for someone else to discover.
- Kindness Bingo: Complete simple acts of kindness and possibly win a prize. Tasks include everything from holding the door open for a stranger, to donating blood, to reaching out to someone in need. The goal is to spread kindness while raising awareness about mental health and community well-being.
- Self-Care and Kindness Tips: Throughout the campaign, NCCMH will share helpful tips for being kind to others and to yourself, fostering both emotional resilience and connection.
How to Get Involved
- Kindness Bingo: Anyone can participate! Simply pick up a bingo card at any North Country CMH office or visit norcocmh.org/kindness. Complete 4-5 kindness tasks to earn a bingo and enter to win a prize. Tasks are easy and accessible for all ages and abilities.
- Paint and Hide Kindness Rocks: Join NCCMH staff and clients in creating and distributing Kindness Rocks around the community. If you find a rock, take a photo and share it on social media to help spread positivity. Don’t forget to tag @NCCMH and use the hashtag #KindnessRocksNCCMH to join the movement.
“We know that kindness has a ripple effect,” said Brian Babbitt, CEO of NCCMH. “Simple, everyday acts of kindness not only benefit others, but they also enhance our own well-being. Research shows that acts of kindness can boost self-esteem, reduce stress, and improve mood. At NCCMH, we’re committed to helping create a stronger, more connected community by fostering kindness and understanding.”
The Power of Kindness and Community
“Kindness isn’t just about doing something nice for someone else—it’s also about being kind to yourself,” Babbitt added. “When we take the time to show kindness, we contribute to a culture of compassion that strengthens relationships, reduces isolation, and promotes mental health. This campaign is a reminder that everyone deserves to feel valued, and through these simple acts, we can make our community a better place for all.”
