Hello and welcome to North Country Community Mental Health! We are pleased that you are visiting this web site, and hope it answers any questions you have about our agency.
North Country CMH is the public behavioral health agency serving the six counties at the tip of northwest Lower Michigan. It was created in April 2003 through the merger of Northern Michigan CMH and Antrim Kalkaska CMH. Both previous agencies had more than 30 years of experience in community service, and we have endeavored to continue this fine tradition of quality, consumer-centered care. At North Country, our vision is to set the standard for excellence in behavioral health care.
In FY 2014, North Country served 3,971 persons with an expenditure of just over $42.2 million. With the beginning of the Healthy Michigan program in Michigan, our agency became largely a Medicaid and Healthy Michigan provider. Our extensive array of services is devoted to our target populations: persons with serious mental illness, persons with developmental disabilities, and children with serious emotional disorders. From infant mental health to inpatient hospitalization, the aim is to provide the right service and support at the right time. That represents quite a bit of activity in a very large geographic area. Our staff and board members, however, are up to the challenge. With dedication and skill, they fulfill our mission of ensuring the provision of behavioral health services that improve the quality of life in our communities.
We are fortunate to have the partnership that we enjoy with our consumers and area stakeholders, who join us in our commitment to continuous improvement in the services offered. We also are fortunate to live in the most beautiful area of a very beautiful state. If you have visited here, you will always remember our outstanding lakeshore vistas, dense forests and warm communities.
